Thought we'd
preview three very different and unique gigs Sisteray have
coming up this week - it's serving as a mini tour, so here's the low down.
GIG 1. BLACK HEART CAMDEN with THE JACQUES
We're making a habit on jumping onto the front of other
band's gigs in Camden - for want of a better description we're calling them
#guerillagigs - we did one at the legendary music venue The Dublin Castle the other week - these gigs are good for us because
there's very little lugging our gear off and on the stage - we just set up
after the other bands have soundchecked and off we go, then just take it off at
the end, simples. Then we can stand back and enjoy the rest of the evening...
unless of course, like last time, our management goes and arranges another gig,
somewhere else later that night... that's just taking the piss! (actually it
was a blast!)
We're more than pleased that on Thursday we'll be supporting another bunch of young upstarts The Jacques from Bristol. Our blog here is called The Road to Reading (2016) but The Jacques actually got to play this year and deserve to next year as well - see you there ;-)
Here's a vid of one of them playing a new song 'Ow Ow' on the
BBC Introducing stage this year.
For more news on our #guerillagigs and others we've set up a
special mobile number so you can be right on the bunny for text alerts about
the gigs... message us for the number.
GIG 2. HOPE FEST in LIVERPOOL @ DISTRICT
It's a real privilege to be part of Hope Fest, in aid and support of Liverpool's homeless.
Our slot is at District (formerly The Picket) and we are
sharing a line-up of Liverpool luminaries including Edgar Summertyme Jones, Dan
Wilson (The Clubical) Dan Wilson (The Cubical) Late
Night Oil, Jimmy & The Revolvers and
Tommy Scott (Space) and a DJ set from Manchester writer/legend Dave Haslam, he's also just written a new book which we mean to check
out called Life After Dark: A History of British Nightclubs &
Music Venues a subject quite close to our hearts, which you will know
from songs like 'Dancefloor Tales', can't wait to get hold of a copy.
This festival/event is a great concept taking across 15
venues in Liverpool over this whole weekend. The idea is, that to obtain a full
weekend wristband you are asked to donate a Hope Pack, consisting of 5
essential items which will go directly to the homeless. The items in the Hope
Pack will be distributed between the homeless shelters in Liverpool such
as The Whitechapel Centre, The Basement Advisory Centre and Liverpool YMCA and passed onto their service users. Alternatively you
can donate a £15 voucher for a major supermarket.
Full details of putting together a Hope Pack for this weekend
can be found HERE
For more information and details about day tickets and entry
to gigs go to the Hope Fest website @ www.hopefest.org.uk/
This is a great event for a great cause and we can't wait to
get up to Liverpool to play, then after that we're straight back down the
motorway for our gig in London the next day.
GIG 3. STOW FESTIVAL, LONDON, WALTHAMSTOW E17
So there's a connection between Friday's and Saturday's gigs - on Friday we play in Liverpool home of The La's, what's not to love about them, and on Saturday we play the constituency of MP Stella Creasy who has claims she learnt 'There She Goes' on guitar to impress boys, OK Stella we were impressed beforehand but even more now.
I used to play it on the guitar at
boys for same reasons - yeah...didn't really work either....;-) #ThisIsEngland90 https://t.co/l2mzYEDyca

We have a lot of time for Stella and congratulate her for
coming second in the labour deputy-leadership election. It's a bit sad that
she's one of the Labour MPs not co-operating with Jeremy though. Anyway, we don't hold grudges and support free
debate, so we hope to see her down the front on
Saturday and if she's learnt 'What's Your Game?'
she can jump up on stage and join us but we might have to have a word in her
ear afterwards.
Stow Festival is another multi venue festival and we headline the Wild Card Brewery on Saturday - and the great thing is that it is FREE to get in. Walthamstow has been upping it's music/culture blast recently and we're proud to be part of it.
Music runs from 1pm and bands at The Wild Card Brewery with us are Blank Bibles (1.00 pm) Swear Down Band (2.00 pm) The Croshaw Family (3.00 pm) Without Fidel (4.00 pm) Lady President (5.00 pm)Krix Panx (6.00 pm) Lill Strange ( here's their Stow Festival mix www.mixcloud.com/ stuartstrange/stow-festival- mix-2015/ (7.00 pm) Firestations (8.00 pm) Rain Maze (9.00 pm) and finally SISTERAY (10.00
pm)
So that's it… three days of Sisteray mayhem. Can't wait!
